Totally miss blogging here. I'm useless, rubbish and got totally lazy. A lot has changed in a year, I'm pretty sure my vocabulary has got worse and I now have three jobs, when I originally did this blog I was totally unemployed. So maybe I'm more resourceful and organised. I did delete facebook I suppose. I'm also interning at Wichita Recordings (home of Bloc Party, The Cribs, Peggy Sue, Simian Mobile Disco etc) which I absolutely love and I wouldn't complain if they adopted me. Enough of this crap;

Being the true loser I am, I have already planned for this meticulously and I'm ready to blog on here, live from the festival.

Basically, I am lazy. Enough of first person though. Plane Clubs first new(ish) band of 2009 to feature is Dinosaur Pile Up. They are loud, mostly distorted and reminding most why they like rock. 'cos it rocks. New single 'Traynor' sounds like Nirvana mixed with the Vines via Biffy Clyro.

7. Johnny Foreigner - Salt, Pepper and Spinderella

Birmingham's very FINEST.

6. Bloc Party - Mercury

Bold, brash, ambitious. Trying a Radiohead? Probably. They don't exactly pull it off, but it's still bloody brilliant.

5. Abe Vigoda - Dead City/Waste Wilderness

This probably wasn't even a single. I don't even know, all I know is it's bloody brilliant. A majorly underrated song, by a majorly underrated band.

4. Friendly Fires - Jump In The Pool

Forget Nu-Rave, forget skinny jeans: It's all about driving bass lines and pointy shoes.

3. MGMT - Electric Feel

Time To Pretend is overrated. Kid's is annoying due to the fact it's on Fifa. Electric Feel is fucking brilliant.

2. Vampire Weekend - A-Punk

Possibly video of the year, but having good video's doesn't make you good, does it? Look at Ok (bloody) Go. This song however, is brilliance. Peter Gabriel mixed with Art Garfunkel. Well good.

1. Razorlight - Wire to Wire

I love controversy. Anyone reading this probably hates this band, or more specifically Johnny Borrell. I must add, this song is taken from arguably the worst album of 2008, and the video, is definitely the worst of 2008.

PCB Glastonbury Review.

NB. This was not taken at Glastonbury, but I had sunburn to prove the pleasant weather.

Yes, the moment the blogging population (or not) have been waiting for. Plane Club's definitive review of Glastonbury 2008.

Unlike other boring, pretentious sites plane club intends to sum up all its acts in one sentence, thoughts that were actually written right after the following acts were seen,with a simple rating at the end. Got it? Excellent.

Got to be difficult opening the main stage, at least there was enough decoration to hold everyone's interest. 4/10

Planeclub Glastonbury 2008 Preview!

yeah, I'd be scared shitless too.

So, there is a whole debate about Glastonbury this year, on the one hand we have the biggot and general bellend Noel Gallagher who doesn't exactly dig Jay Z. The stupid wanker. At least Duffy appreciates him, which goes someway to make up for that terrible single she has released about a tube station that doesn't even exist.

thing else these bands have met their maker this year. A few, below are looked at in detail.

The Chalets

Hailing from Ireland, toured with the likes of We Are Scientists, The Cribs and Art Brut, The Chalets got dancefloors moving all over europe with their riot grrrl influenced disco pop. Citing their main influences as food and music.

Simply signing off with 'We had loads of fun', the Chalets were gone. 2003-2008

Cutting Pink With Knives

Their blend of hard riffs and weird synths kept the underground music community intrigued. A few (to little) releases later it has come to an end. Still, at least we have Rolo Tomassi.

The Dead 60's

Label mates with fellow scousers The Coral and The Zutons, the Dead 60's were relatively hot property during their 5 years as a band (2003-2008). They scored 3 top singles and even featured on film soundtracks. They split up in February this year saying 'the band had run its course,' and that was that.

Help She Can't Swim

Sounding like a mixture of Los Campesinos and Elle Milano, Help She Can't Swim were a mainstay of the Southern Indie scene for a number of years. I'm actually personally fucking gutted they have gone, and you should (or will be) soon.

They came over from Iceland, they conquered the hearts of many, then they fucked off. The shits, they were pretty fucking good. Icelandic media reported that singer Gunnar Bergmann did not forsee the pressures of being in an international touring band. Shame.

Milburn

So, those Arctic Monkeys 'shook' the music world with their craft, fair enough. Milburn had a remarkably similar sound to Turner & co. What many music fans do not know, is that Milburn were around BEFORE those Monkeys. They were generally panned despite having some great songs.

It seems the music world wasn't big enough for the Arctic Monkeys and Milburn. Its like the VHS or Betamax, Mini-Disc or MP3 battles.

Shut Your Eyes And You'll Burst Into Flames

For some reason I always thought this band were Australian.

Anyway, SYEAYBIF (looks like sweaty almost!) actually hailed from Leeds and were part of the Dance To The Radio fraternity.

They featured on a couple of the infamous DTTR label samplers also. They toured with Hadouken! and generally made anywhere they played dance their tits off.
